[The bouquet is by a gravestone. Small, blank card attached to it, reading only,]

I'm sorry.
patrick_jane: (haunted)
Yes.

He knows it is to be discouraged in a servant of the law (which he finds ridiculous, he's not a servant of anybody or anything only of everybody and everything, even if it means no dental, but he's merely a freely employed consultant), but yes, he has been.

He is.

So bad that it grips his stomach and twists it sometimes, so hard that he sees red and black spots.

Or a red smiling face.

There are occasionally people in his job that he doesn't mind seeing dead. There are people that he even more or less arranges to die, or lets it happen at the very least. Crooks, those who've hurt children, who have tried or succeeded in hurting one of his. Or him, but very few ever manage that. There are, and he's not ashamed to admit that. Usually, it's another's hand holding the gun who does it.

He's not ashamed to admit that, either. His marksmanship is nowhere near as good as Lisbon's, or any of the rest of the unit, really. If it were, he'd have managed to stop Hardy without killing him, wouldn't he have?

But one man, he wants to kill with his own hands.

Cut him and bleed him and watch his pain, until he's dead.

Ray. Maybe that's his name. Possibly, if he wasn't lying to Rosalind. He might have. He might have not. Red John.

He wants to give to Red John more pain and suffering than his wife and daughter suffered. Several times over. And then he wants to watch the light go out of his eyes, the light, the pain, the humiliation of knowing that, after all, it was Jane who wasn't the fraud.

He wants to take some part of his still-warm body and bury it at the feet of his lady and their baby girl, or burn it at their feet in some sort of ancient ritual that used to have meaning when rage like his was acceptable.

Tempted? Oh yes. And Patrick Jane is very, very good at not resisting temptation. In fact, he's really planning on surrendering to it completely.

And doesn't hide that either.

Of course, whether anyone believes him is a different question.

All the better. They won't try to stop him until it's too late.
patrick_jane: (Going home)
We owe it to each other to tell stories,

as people simply, not as father and daughter.

I tell it to you for the hundredth time:

"There was a little girl, called Goldilocks,

for her hair was long and golden,

and she was walking in the Wood and she saw —
"

"— cows." You say it with certainty,

remembering the strayed heifers we saw in the woods

behind the house, last month.

"Well, yes, perhaps she saw cows,

but also she saw a house.
"

"— a great big house," you tell me.

"No, a little house, all painted, neat and tidy."

"A great big house."

You have the conviction of all two-year-olds.

I wish I had such certitude.

"Ah. Yes. A great big house.

And she went in . . .
"

I remember, as I tell it, that the locks

Of Southey's heroine had silvered with age.

The Old Woman and the Three Bears . . .

Perhaps they had been golden once, when she was a child.

And now, we are already up to the porridge,

"And it was too— "

"— hot!"

"And it was too— "

"— cold!"

And then it was, we chorus, "just right."

The porridge is eaten, the baby's chair is shattered,

Goldilocks goes upstairs, examines beds, and sleeps,

unwisely.

But then the bears return.

Remembering Southey still, I do the voices:

Father Bear's gruff boom scares you, and you delight in it.

When I was a small child and heard the tale,

if I was anyone I was Baby Bear,

my porridge eaten, and my chair destroyed,

my bed inhabited by some strange girl.

You giggle when I do the baby's wail,

"Someone's been eating my porridge, and they've eaten it —"

"All up," you say. A response it is,

Or an amen.

The bears go upstairs hesitantly,

their house now feels desecrated. They realize

what locks are for. They reach the bedroom.

"Someone's been sleeping in my bed."

And here I hesitate, echoes of old jokes,

soft-core cartoons, crude headlines, in my head.

One day your mouth will curl at that line.

A loss of interest, later, innocence.

Innocence; as if it were a commodity.

"And if I could," my father wrote to me,

huge as a bear himself, when I was younger,

"I would dower you with experience, without experience."

and I, in my turn, would pass that on to you.

But we make our own mistakes. We sleep

unwisely.

It is our right. It is our madness and our glory.

The repetition echoes down the years.

When your children grow; when your dark locks begin to silver,

when you are an old woman, alone with your three bears,

what will you see? What stories will you tell?

"And then Goldilicks jumped out of the window and she ran —"

Together, now: "All the way home."

And then you say, "Again. Again. Again."

We owe it to each other to tell stories.

These days my sympathy's with Father Bear.

Before I leave my house I lock the door,

and check each bed and chair on my return.

Again.

Again.

Again...

He gets all stirred up when he gets a look at the body, trying talk Lisbon into believing him it's Red John...
... but when the smiley appears and he stops fidgetting... instead just smiles. "Oh this is mine... my game and yours." ... and nothing else matters.

(Also, re the twins, both Sol and Sveta bes worried about Pol now...)

Umgh. Jane... he's... well, 'not listening to Lisbon' doesn't even begin to cover it. He's playing this game his way. And this time, he's not up for ANY mellowing from her. At all.

*sighs* Red John has broken pattern once before. Only once. Doesn't Jane feel special... wait.

"Still very different characters." "Yes, if you know them well." Haha and Jane knows about their character almost as much as their mother does, already...
... Ahh and he's going very concentratedly over stirring the parents up - and not even a GLIMPSE of the almost-joy he usually has at doing this.

Poke poke. Poke poke. Result. No wonder at all he keeps doing this like that, he gets what he wants.

... that sheriff is weirdly familiar. His name is familiar. IMDB doesn't result in a thing that I recognize as having seen. Bzuh.

PUPPY!! *coughs*
"Do you carry a gun?" "No, never." heh. heh. Also, he's a glint of mocking at the sheriff who tells him to hang back. Just... 'if you are going like this/saying this, you have no idea what you're doing.'

I think if Jane was there to see that woman offer her niece to Cho, he'd be after her case before she registered something was coming her way...

Children and animals...

Pulling up his sleeves. "Fun times are over. Work now. Watch out/duck..."

Wheee. For the first time the whole season I can hear a trickle of Simon's accent in the rhythm with which Jane speaks. Which goes away immediately, and the comes the breaking voice. Man.

Jane's... extremely focused. And Lisbon is making a whole lot of allowances for him. Yes, she's concerned and trying to be gentle with him all right; but she's getting sucked into the vortex and there's no way out.

Hey, I like the girls' brother. Does that mean he's a baddie? Or at least a dick, like the rich guy that Jane tweaked the nose of? ... wait. He's tall and dark. Ummm.
... also. "Gay, yes?"

Mmmph. The love letter. The phrasing. He knows, KNOWS that kind of letter and-- I guess at least ONCE he treated Her badly. Badly enough for her to make a gesture equally reaching out, if not quite so obvious as that letter. (Then again, Jane was probably much easier to locate/reach than Red John is...) Or maybe it was a letter. ow.

haha. Intuition leads him to a conclusion that, reached through logic... well, he knows that huge holes can be punched into that logic. And yet he clings to it. Clingy clingy Jane. "I want to get him. This is getting me closer, don't TELL me I can't be getting closer!"

... that poor woman. That amazing poor woman. However he came into her world... He blazed for her. Real, honest, attractive blaze, the kind that you want to watch because it's so amazing. (And burned her. But it's still better, much better than trying to deal with the mundane world that she perceives that much more acutely after it.)

He's... hurt hurting. Can't keep his eyes away from that smily face. he doesn't want to be lying to Rosalind, but he's doing it absolutely, sufficiently that she'll believe him, and that's a lot harder than lying to somebody who sees, especially with her. (also, man, kudos so far to Alicia Witt.)

"I don't live in your world. I live here." FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. (Okay, never mind that the rest of the show is awesome. Her story is enough to make me glad I'm watching.)

Okay, Minelli hugging that damned stuffed elephant HAD to be there! (Although I'm SAD that they had to take it from her.)

I can play that Prelude in C. Or used to. She's doing a good job with it. Rigorous. Actually, it was my ringtone on my old phone for years. I'd entered it as notes myself.
... *sobs*

Random thoughts while Jane takes a bit of time off. She was a pianist. Possibly at least for a while performer. Possibly Roy/RJ came into the house using that as an excuse - admirer of her music. Or maybe he knew her from that time/in that context.

Hurtssweethurtsloveshurts... *sighs, watches on*

Yeah, that bit with making him remember her even more the night before? That's just so that he is sicced to get him. He doesn't care who hears him saying those things to Lisbon, he doesn't care what Lisbon will do. It doesn't matter.
There's only red, flaring, cutting hatred. Mine. I'll get you.

Lisbon should really know better than leaving him unsupervised. ... well, with a kiddo sheriff counts as unsupervised. Even Rigsby would have been much better. (Not enough, there's nobody who'd be enough to stop him right THEN, but ...)

O hai thar tall guy with glasses who just randomly appears in a relatively deserted store listening to what's happening...

... for the record? I THOUGHT the accomplice was the sheriff - true, half a minute before the video tape thing, but... the way he loaded up the shotgun. Behind Jane's back. (O hai, thar, smart guy. Watcha lookin' at? Not behind your back? Bad idea... don't bite me, I'm just pointing out!)

Well, at least he's not leaping up... er, down at the chance to go explore that basement/cellar/whatever himself... and yet he went.

F you, Heller. (okay, that wasn't an offer...)

Augh that man is insane. Also, kids of those he's destroyed coming back to bite his ass. Or try to kill him.

Oh Jane. Ow, Jane. He knows that the sheriff's going to die as soon as Lisbon shows up early.

I feel bad for agreeing with Jane. That man needs to be bled slowly to death.

*flails. full. time* "I think you'd choose life." "Well you think wrong." *flails. cries*

He... if HE was the one threatened at gunpoint, he'd have done nothing.
But it wasn't.
But it's...

Also, there's another melody that I won't ever, EVER be able to hear the same way. EVER again. Either by itself or in the Ave Maria version.

*flails sobs*
patrick_jane: (Glee)
Jane's doing his usual trick, but when the hypnotized guy shows up he seems to display actual concern for him. There's care and delicacy and strength in the way he handles him. Quiet assurance. Authority may be the word I'm looking for. Like Samael when he's being the patriarch.

Potatoes. Why potatoes?

That's a pretty deeply embedded hypnotic suggestion.

Hahah. Against my specific orders. ... OMG he hypnotized Minelli? And then there was a treatise on hypnosis of things we already know.

"Too badly dressed to be gay" Ahahahahaha.

"Soft and squishy and malleable." HEEEEEEE. "Get all pruny." AHAHAAHAHAAH. Oh man. He's in fine form today.

Yeah. He pounced on that like a shark on chum.

"Well, as long as we don't lose him or break him, what's the problem?" So typical of Sorcerers. Treating people as objects or children at best. People they don't care about, that is.

"Willpower and persuasion and communicating more deeply." Uh-huh. Oh that's ... so so Sorcerous.

Oh god Jane. Prancing down the aisle. Bouncing. He's eager. This is going to be bad. Not for Jane, but, just.

Oh Lisbon. You love Jane, you really do, but sometimes you just want to smack him.

JANE. YOU ARE A BAD, BAD MAN.

(Randomly, in that angle as he's walking, he looks like he's holding himself very straight and tall. I wonder. If that's unusual or if that's just how he's been and I haven't noticed.)

Also, Jane's using authoritative, more aggressive postures than previously.

Ooh. Other hypnotist is good. And the guy's ... yeah. That's what I thought. The guy's assistant is probably also hypnotised, but also he's damn good himself. He's good at crowd tactics.

His hands are tapping. Something's not right about him. I'm not sure if he's hypnotised, if he's using Doctor Daniel as a blind, or if he's the blind. It could be the drunk. But I still think he's the blind. And I think he was hypnotised into it.

*is so amused at Rigsby* I can't believe he tried that. ... either of the 'that's.

Jane has goooood instincts. Well, yes. Sorcerer. Um. But. Ooh. Locked room mystery.

Of course she was sleeping with him. Heh. And now Jane's going to be all smu... there he went.

Closed case pizza calories! Oh Jane. I love you.

And here's the convo from the preview. Mm. Interesting that he uses the words small town and small time, but not small potatoes.

Oh god. Rigsby, no, you won't get the truth out of him. ... Wow. .. Oh it's him. It's definitely him. He hypnotised Rigsby into doing that so that he could get... something. Maybe get dismissed or something.

The boy thinks the sister did it. He could be right? *ponders* An affair, or maybe the sister by herself.

OH MY GOD JANE YOU BASTARD. I'm not going to be able to stop laughing.

... Good. Good plan. Good one Jane.

Jane's.. undoing it. Somehow. This is actually kind of impressive. I think he's hypnotising and sliding his hypnosis under the other guy's to find the trigger and bring Rigsby out of it. "Visual, auditory, physical." I'm going to have to remember that.

Oh Rigsby. *sighs* Poor schmuck.

... Interesting. The boy was right. (Also, Rigsby is so so suggestible. Unless he's pretending. ... Dammit. Too many players here. Hard to see the game.)

And it's not helping that she looks like Grace.

"Oh, I have a gun too. Lisbon."

AHAHAHAHAHA. "Oh for Heaven's sake."

And again, there. Minx. Not an insult today but a hundred years ago? Yes. Not a bad one, but still. And there goes Jane. ... oop, there doesn't go Jane.

Thaaat's the first time I've heard him panicked. GAH. Tug of war ... with Rigsby's mind. Ouch.

RIGSBY, YOU LIAR

And ... they're all calling him on it.

JANE YOU BASTARD.

And let's see what's up next week. ... I think Simon Baker's wife just slapped him.
patrick_jane: (Default)
... Jane's in a REALLY precocious mood right now. I... just. Hooray? Picnic lunch? And now he's going on about ancient seas.
Oh is he EVER. Man. I am also... hmm. There's something of a play between him and Lisbon about Grace.

... And he's actually got a picnic lunch?

And there's the body. Oh he's got a cute expression on his face, pointing at it all "LOOK! SEE?"
"This is going to be interesting" seems to be Jane's theme ... at least a far in the ep as I've reached.

Jane's definitely in an impish mood. But also a patient one, he didn't get up in the rich man's face, he was more interested in his sandwich and just pointed it out to Lisbon and was all "you going to let him get away with that?"

AWWW OMG HE SOUNDS SO PITIFUL! "You want your sandwich?"
Dude. I will need to watch pieces again to know what he's doing.

... Jane. Interesting. That was... an interesting exchange of names. He got something from that and I'm not sure what.
Among other things, he got that the arrogant dude's resolve and mockery isn't steel-firm. It kinda matters... he's willing to step back when Jane applies pressure. Of course, I think there's more.

ASUGHSMILESTOPDOINGTHATJANE.
Predator. He can play with these folks. He also may partially agree with the killer.

Interesting that he asks what the worst thing these people have done lately. And the other guy responds with something very cold and calculating. Jane's still got that creepyass smile.
Shark. At least this far, Jane sees no reason whatsoever to be kind and gentle to them.

Oh, those aren't typical rednecks at all. Or... something. I really hope the stereotype is brief.
No. There's a damn lot of caring that goes against... well, MY view of the stereotype.

Oh god. Jane in a house full of screaming kids. And a very angry mother. And Jane immediately gets her trust. He's being adorable. The way only a Sorcerer can.

.. Interesting. "Wives often say [that their husbands won't lie to them]." Interesting contrast to what he says in the first episoooooh she's dying. The Bald Head of Cancer. And then Jane moves away. I think... it's not so much hitting home, but it kind of is at the same time.
There's a difference between wives say that their husbands wouldn't lie to them, and wives don't know when they do. If they admit it to themselves.
*sniffles* Ow. He's not happy. Not happy with this at all. But sure respects her a lot.

Jane's empathising with the father, now. Ego and pride leading to his wife's demise. Yeah.
Ow. Oweee. Ow.

"I know. I can read your mind." Lisbon to Jane. That's hilarious. And then he says that he wants to go talk to the execs again. And of course he doesn't ... listen... and... they're driving HIS car? What? What the what?
They drove his car when they went to see the wife too.
Dammit. She's trying so. hard. to do that 'no'! to him. Except that this isn't a game, this is work, this is figuring things out, so he won't back out.

Oh god. He's going to cold-read them. Just to piss them off. "His statements in no way reflect the official position of the CBI." Interesting emphasis on official.
Buahahahahahahah ahem. It seems a game of 'raise both your hands, lower your right hand' again. *watches the rest of it* Bahahahahaaha ohgods man. She's is having FUN with what Jane is doing. Ohyes. She's so dragged along by a sorcerer in flight.

EEE Jane at a farmer's market! With an apple!

.... Okay. This conversation with Lisbon and trust... is hilarious and cute. And yet sincerely ... something. This is Jane-Lisbon bonding time. It's interesting.
You can't brainwash people? REALLY, Lisbon?!
*cracks. up. so. badly* it's hilarious. and cute. And way more open than most of their interactions.
... what is he... why is he doing that... He wants her to trust him not so that he can let her down. He wouldn't, not until... well, never in a way that would endanger her. But he wants her to trust him enough to give him his opening to do what he wants to do. Damn you, Heller.

Poetry, blah, note, blah, Jane deciphers, blah. And then I cracked up because Jane's car is TOO OLD AND TOO WIDE to do the tires screech turn around thing. And, Jane is still a bad bad man.
Ummm. Whover it is, they know pretty precisely who is dealing with the case and how to reach them. How to reach Van Pelt at least. And yes, but he usually doesn't like to do that. But much as he dislikes the execs, man, letting them die isn't on his agenda.
AHAHAH HE IS. HE SO IS. Then again, the dude is very, very irksome.

Jane likes this family but I can't tell if he's toying with them. Despite the fact that he thinks it was an internal matter.
He's playing because he's irked at the fear-blinded reaction of the husband.

... also, Dean laughed at Grace's joke. Jane, almost did. WAIT, he was laughing at Grace's joke. I typed this before I got to that bit.

Yeah. I knew it wasn't her, that was too obvious. At this point the boy and I are pretty sure the annoying owner arrogant guy did it. But I have no proof. I just don't like him because he's annoying and I think he did it because Jane doesn't like him. And Jane's usually right about these things. Mm, also, while I'm thinking about it, the one guy who was likely to have made that shot within the team ... oh. That's what it was. The second victim was the intended target, the first one was to make it look like something else.

OH GOD JANE. "Must be a secret grudge" That little eyedart was... ... oh god. He's selling this a lot.
LMFAO ohgods. I love Simon Baker. I really, really do.

"AH-HA AS THEY SAY"!!!??!!???! *dies laughing*
So. very. ded.

And of course he's making tea.
and of course finishing his tea is more important than explaining/getting more information. That has absolutely nothing to do with dramatic effect. Whatsoever.

And of course he's poking whatever this thing is. Not a bear. Maybe a snake, but not quite. Weasel. That's what he is.
Goat's foot, it looks like to me. Shiny! And it bleats!

Ahhahaha. Jane mocking amateur dramatics.

"Everybody loves redemption." *snorts*

... why are they letting Jane deal with the murder suspect? I... seriously. Why are they letting Jane deal with the guy? Although what Jane bargained FOR wasn't much of a surprise.
Jane can get a confession from him, he usually can. They know he cracked the case, and they know he has a sufficient reading on him to get it out from him.
They also know that the guy has taken measure of Jane well enough already to not mistake his, ah, cheer for anything other than it is. Shark-like, unstoppable threat. When he says 'death penalty'... well. He'll press for it. Possibly successfully.

Awww. Happy ending. Ish. That wasn't as bad as it could have been.
No. But it was sorcerer armed to the teeth. Pitch-perfect.
patrick_jane: ([temp] Daughter 1)
Everywhere, everywhere, children are the scorned people of the earth. - Toni Morrison

Once upon a time there was a princess.

She had sun-kissed curls that bounced around her each time she turned around to smile, and warm brown eyes that seemed to laugh at all the world and take it in with as much wonder and comprehension as her father.

And her father, he would do anything for her. If she wished, he would take down stars from the sky for her, and that was no jest or empty promise. And there was no mountain high enough to keep him from her when she called, when she needed him. And the princess knew that, and her mother knew it too. And there was sunshine and love, and the princess was the most important person in the world.

And then came a day of woe, and something terrible happened to the princess, and her father didn't come to rescue her. He didn't come at all, until it was too late, for her and for her mother.

Her father never, even for a moment, could forget that he didn't come. Couldn't forget that it was him that should have taken the blow, instead of them. Not for a moment, waking or dreaming.

And he never, ever forgot the princess. And all the children, ever, that he got to meet, were princess and princesses, for her. And they didn't get the scorn that the rest of the adults gave them; they didn't even get the scorn that the princess's father gave to the other adults. No, they got respect, and attention, and understanding, and care, as they deserved.

All that he could never again give to her, he gave wherever he could.

It was never enough. But he would never do any less.
patrick_jane: (And sad of eye)
And I still love the opening credits music.

It's very... Desperate Housewives. I can't wait to see what Jane makes of this. Also, why do people always land on the table?

Jane's hypnotizing a convict. Like, a massively tattooed convict. Who apparently has a very low threshold. This is hilarious. He's got the bright eyes of the Sorcerer at work.
I actually think that his threshold wasn't that low. With the low-threshold woman before, he hypnotized her on the power of his eyes and words alone; here, he had to use an object, and also had to run him through routine questions and keep him focused (ahaha patience. Yes, Jane has that). And then he had to slap his arm hard to get him out of it. I don’t know much about hypnosis, but that sounds pretty high-threshold to me.

AHAHAHAH. ... oh. Oh my, Lisbon's picking up his mannerisms. "Be quick about it," and so on. And he's still calling her 'woman'... which, actually, I don't know if you've noticed, Fluffy does that to me too. So perhaps it's not just Victorian, it's Victorian England.
Mmm so I've noticed. And yeah, probably. Bah. While the Sherlock Holmes connection definitely makes sense, it still doesn't fully explain the dating of him, which is so emphatically consistent.

AHAH. "Hello. Use your words."
Hah. For some reason that reminds me of discussing Fluffy's *writers*. I can't imagine why.

"The source of the poison I have no doubt." So very Sherlock Holmes. And Victorian. ... also, holy HELL. Jane is coiffed. And his hair is... like, going straight up.

And now Jane's sizing up the two women friends. Who are possibly lovers, yes? By the previews?
I kinda like (well, sort of) how he burrows into the purse the husband hands over, just... unceremoniously. And Lisbon doesn't even pay attention. Reminds me of that iPod somewhat.

KID WITH SWORD!

Oh, yes. There go the affair accusations. Interestingly, Lisbon doesn't contradict the "what kind of police are you?" question. Doesn't point out that he's not an agent and so on.
And neither does he.

Yeah. He's not nearly as young as he was in the first few episodes. Young-acting. Whichever. Also there's something in his face when he's talking with the husband about the dead wife... something that makes me think he's thinking of his wife. I don't know what it is?
I... something. He’s polite(ish) with the husband, but... something. Either a little disapproving of something, or yeah, wrapped up in his own memories. I do think that he's already guessing that making jewelry wasn't all that the dead woman did... it doesn't fit in with the kind of house and lifestyle.

Aaah and there is definitely no disapproval in the father's treatment of the kid.

There's more 'plan and plot and the internal work of the unit and the unit's interaction with other units' in this episode than before. I think.

And then Jane thought in circles around Rigsby. Again.

Oh. Look. There's that fake show smile. I suspect he wore that smile ... at parties, and he's genuinely amused at the boldness with which the woman announces their presence.
He wears that smile every time he wants to get under people's skin without any longer-term planning involved. (Aside: I wonder if she didn't puncture right through that smile the first, or more likely second time he met her.)
And yes, he is amused. I suspect he's wondering if she's playing a game and enjoying the prospective challenge.

And I think ... Oh wow. Jane's watching this catfight with all kinds of amusement. He likes that the short haired blonde... Heather. That she's straightforward. I think that's a quality or two there his wife had.
Ahaha yes. *grins* And re Heather, see above note about wondering if she is giving out an invitation to play, for any who would pick it up. And yes, straightforward. Bold, she went right on, over what Rigsby told her. She does her own thing.

Second woman... she's a pet. A plaything. ... ohh. Husbands kill their women. Yeah. Jane's face visibly, and I mean that's anvilicious. You can watch his face go slack at that.
*flinches. A lot. And then more.* I think I'm skipping lunch.

He's speaking Tennis. And he's toying with her. .. and actually I think she's the only one in this club who's not in on it.
I think he plays tennis. Or used to. (Dammit. Now I'm getting flashes of teaching his daughter tennis...)
Kablink. Dude, I love his eye for detail. He looked at those necklaces for a few seconds only.

Short haired brunette is in on it. Definitely.
*snorts* The lack of reaction from that short-haired brunette about 'missing keys'? It even made Jane blink.

Ahahah. Poor Rigsby. Two women naked in bed and he can't say anything 'cause Grace is there.
Jane, you brat. You could have given him a warning.

... Grace, oh Grace, oh Gracie... *pets*

Mm. In this case I think she's telling the truth. Asra or whatever her name is. And ohhh that was slick. I'm fairly sure that was Jane's idea, but that was slick. .... Mm. And the man is actually parenting his child, it seems like. I wonder how Jane's going to take that, if he ever gets a chance to see that.
Rigsby critiquing Cho on acting. Um. Am I the only one who finds that funny?
And eeeee! The one over here is very glad that the kid's safe and does have his dad there. >.> *goes on watching*

And I think the wife was the one having an affair. With Mandy, maybe.

Ahhhahah. Child death. His smile is toothy and sharp, but not at her. He likes her, I think, this blonde who possibly reminds him of his wife. ... although. Hmm. Now I suddenly think she did it, since this is an apparent racing... thing that she went to. Mm, two possible plots, but only one of them can be true.
Since you spoiled it (I don't mind!), yeah, I'd guess so, and yes, definitely then she was inviting in a play - "come find me, see what I did, and see why. She was far from innocent."
*sighs* Ow. Just ow.

Heh. "You shan't go hungry long." He's so, so ... yeah.
Mm. Scarlett was dealing drugs to her rich friends. Why does this not surprise me. I'm betting that had something to do with the death of Rachel.
Good guess. *sighs*

Aww, no "I see you."

Okay. New theory of the crime. Psycho blonde was trying to muscle Sca... no, I have no theory of the crime. I'm sticking with vengeful mother. Ooh. Definitely psycho blonde. Jane's going to get her... he wants to sink his teeth into her, I can tell.
Yeah, the fact that the long-haired blonde had the keys was... interesting.
Also, Jane is so amused. So amused. I also think he suspects it wasn't her.

CHO! I love you, Cho. :) Aaand he says exactly what I was thinking.
Amen. ... ok, did you mean about the lipstick or the sandwich? I say Amen to both anyway.

Aww kid in costume. And there goes Jane. (And here goes Frankie. No, I'm not sure why she woke up now, except, Jane with kids is about the most genuine we ever see him.)
Dude. The sheer respect Jane has for children. He doesn't respect adults nearly so much. (And same goes for love, but the respect is something that gets children every time. And it's honest.)

OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH. "She can't come back, you know that, don't you." OW OW OW OW OW. His expression.
*sighs*

OWEOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. JUST OW. (You'll see.)
Mmm. That is an anvilicious repetition of the caress on the band and the present tense of his last line of the previous episode. :(
D'Artagnan. Man.

... Oh, my god. Rigsby.

... yeah. Sticking with the mother theory.

Jane, you're so... he's so obvious. He's laying this so obviously. I just hope the father's in on it... of course he is. That's why Jane had that conversation with him about playing pretend.

Oh go on. Say it. He's got the broken, vengeful face on... no, mostly broken. "I understand your anger." Yes. He does. I'm waiting for her to say something like "how could you know how I feel" but I wonder if she's going to, now.
... 'so full of life'. I think that was the line that finally and completely broke him.

OW JANE CHRIST. "Now that it's done, does it feel better?" And he's really thinking about that. Oh ow. Ow ow ow.

And now he's ... mmph. Lone ranger my ass. Lisbon thinks she understands, but she doesn't.
No, she doesn't. He doesn't really want her to understand, either. Ow.

*sighs* Christ. This one wasn't easy on him, either.
No, it wasn't. He also didn't really listen to the answer to that question. I mean, he heard it. But didn't believe it would apply to him.
He’s, um. Damn. Such a mixture of knowing and self-deception. Fucking sorcerers.
patrick_jane: (Man of the past)
- I love you.
- I'm sorry.
- I miss you.
- There's no sound sweeter than your laughter.
- I belong to you.
- You play beautifully, and it's getting better every day. Would you like it if I tried to arrange a concert for you?
- She's got it from you.
- You are beautiful.
- You're the best thing that has ever happened to me.
- ... I love you.

Haha. Oh Lisbon. "So you're a forensics expert now?" Doesn't she know already...? *pets*
Also, I need to replay, but I think Jane slips a 'she' about the shooter right there.

Jane's cheerful 'I've got this under control' smile? It so gives me creeps sometimes.

"Take a wild guess!" *giggles* Oh Jane...

... I think... that was a Jane sneer right there. Just a sneering lip. After the dude say, "I'm good at what I do." Or disgusted smile. Or both.

A pick-up artist? A woman-whisperer?!! Such a good thing we get a good shot at Jane after that line. *snickers* ... and Van Pelt's face.

"Interesting. He's either a habitual liar telling the truth or an honest man lying." I love the fact that he's confused about this - because both ... possibilities are equally probable.

"... which should be a criminal offense but isn't." Lisbon. We love you. We really do.

... "men are like toasters. Women a little more like... accordions." ... baha. bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. ahem.

... random tall large man lust for the husband. *stares at self* now that was unexpected. Especially considering the levels of 'jerk' this one reaches.

OMFG. THAT'S ALONA TAL!!!! That's... *incoherent, brb*

Sudoku. Jane does sudoku. When bored. *cracks. right. up*

He manipulates the entire team, minus Lisbon, with a single word. SINGLE word. "Boring." And they take turns who goes with him. Cho says "You're up." to Rigsby. Who's, ah... not overenthusiastic about it.

*blinks* ahem. Rigsby doesn't even try to figure him out anymore. Not until he starts explaining. But... Jane: *locks himself out. beams.* Let's go eat. ... *prods him*

"Love is for guys who cannot get laid." "Oh!" okay. They decided to up the humor for part of this episode. ... or maybe it's just me finding this funny. Nope. Jane does too. Except not quite that much. I've rarely seen him so closed-bodied unless something's really wrong.
and ahah he looks at him at 'three words' and then realized it's not his three words about seduction.
... I mean, how much farther from 'love and affection' can you get than 'contempt, control, excitement'? >.>
I also don't see good things coming Paul's way.

*pets Jane* "About women? He's wrong. Unless of course you want to have lots of sex with casual women, then he's right." Good old-fashioned gentleman is what comes to mind about that line. He treated his lady right. And he so loved her. Still does. This... I think the comment about 'love is for guys...' set him off to dark paths again.

Poor. Cho. Poor, poor Cho. Especially since I think Jane already has a suspect.

JANE YOU... heh. He's effective.

Buffoon. Princess Bride dork-out time.
That said... Ow, Jane! You're just asking for trouble now. (And very much five.)

Go. Lisbon. *coughs* ahem. He gets them all to act five sometimes.

Rigsby? You are sometimes an idiot.

Jane's... so. behaving. like. he. owns. that. unit. And it's funny when they try to confront him about it.

"Do you have any good clothes?" (Nineteenth century man moment because of the rephrasing.) "Do you have anything with a little more... zing?"

They did definitely step up the humor. Like... *stares at Cho*

Is that... *stares* Jane talking Cho through ... getting a couple of women down? *watches, utterly fascinated and wondering how fast Jane had to talk to get them all to agree to the damned... plan.*

*giggles* "He's playing it a little... old school." Um. Just... um.

"The kid's a natural." "No business like Cho business." I think he thinks he's funny.

Cho. Cho. Cho. Cho! *waits to see Jane's reaction in ep, but ...* -> which is never shown.

"I care! I care about Claire Walcott! She was a living person!" Oh Jane... The things you tell yourself.

*sniffles* Oh the ending. Ow the ending. Ummm. Be careful with both her and Frankie after Paul goes to Katie. Just saying. After that, see the comment at his reply to Rigsby's question. Damn sometimes I read my muses right.

They're already starting in with the imagery. First thing is a big black bird, possibly a raven, more likely a crow for this latitude. Apparently that bike scene was pretty early on. And the way he MOVES when he throws it, by the way. Still ... not quite as archaic as he usually is, but still archaic.

Heh. Pink bike. And he's goood. His eyes go serious before his smile does, though. Right before "be safe." Also there's something about the way he says 'crows.'

Also, those are NOT crows, I don't think. Their beaks are shaped funny.

He does know crime scene etiquette though. And AHAHAHAAH "There's no such thing as black magic." Coming from the chick who was in The Craft. That's hilarious.

He's not QUITE as sunshiney as he used to be, but he's definitely... something. Less ... voracious? Than he was in the last couple of eps, especially the last one.

When they say the word 'witch', that she claims to be a witch, he just looks... sad. I wonder if (oh, now he's all "spell, what kind of spell?" he's curious and playful) he sees it as a cry for attention.

Definitely playful. And definitely brighter. He really, really wants to pick tht lock, and he's five again. More an mroe playful as the episode goes on.

Heh. Go Van Pelt Coach's daughter!

AHAHAHAHAH. Oh Jane. I love Jane.

And Cho's superstitious. And he's mking the former witch go first. This episode amuses the hell outta me.

Jane's a bit discombobulted by her being there ... oh. Now he's intrigued by her because she actually used mental tactics as well as claiming to be a witch. And delighted. And there's that smile.

I'm amused that Jane's up on his herblore. He's also treating her with more respect than one might expect from someone who's done and treated peopl ethe way he hs. (Mmm. She says he was a bad person .. .th eboy, not Jane... and ... now he's got the skeptic loook). Oh god. Now he's got the whole look he had with the psychic, only less... predatory. He sees her as misguided and clever but not a threat.

The fact that Lisbon is watching this is AMUSING me to no end. (And she's amusing Jane, but I think he's more playful than cranky because she's .. obviously a few nuts short a bowl of granola, no matter what her religion is.)

"You don't actually believe she's a real witch." His eyes are so bright. He's so cheerful. And yet I can't unsee what we saw.

Aaand now Cho's convinced because of a coincidence. I knew that was going to happen and now I'm cackling.

... he's bouncing like a kid either waiting to get into the amusement park or doing the pee-pee dance. Actually he's doing outside what Sam does inside when he's waiting for the time to be right. And now he's doing obvious .. not quite hypnotism but obvious mentalism tricks. Human lie detector thing is what I think he's doing.
... And I'm impressed that the kid picked up on it.

They're also still doing the maybe (Jane still doesn't believe.) (AHAHAH a spell is protected free speech?!?!) the supernatural exists and maybe it doesn't. And... football? What? Jane?

Heh. "it's my job to hound people until I get the truth" more truth to that than he wants there to be, I think.

Jane so totally wasn't a jock, or a nerd. Neither end of the spectrum. The only reason he's getting away with it is because it's a kid who doesn't know any better, not coming from a self-confident adult.

... let the yeast rise, what?

Nerds in cloaks indeed. They're a little young, speaking as a Wicca, for this. But it's not entirely inappropriate or unusual. I'm leaning towards Rigsby's stnce on this, honestly. And I think they're absolving him of blood guilt, but. I'm not sure.

Annnd now systematically breaking her down, putting her own the defensive, establishing his power. Sorcerer... to seduce or ... something. He doesn't want to strip Wicca from her so much as the idea tht she can cast spells.

And now he's turning that on ... wait for it. Wait for it... No. Damn.

It's not the brother that's beating up the boy. It's the father. And I think Jane knows it. Jane knows there's something rotten in the state of Denmark, but he's not... well, no. He knew a while ago, now he's setting it in motion fo rthem to prove it.

Still amused by Lisbon.

And, tht's interesting. He's actually explaining when he realized, this is more explanation than he usually gives. And he's not ... spectacularly pissed at the man? He's just... heh. Cold.

Also, he is a bad, bad man.
